Today, as we honor the sacrifices made by countless individuals for our nation's freedom, we also find ourselves at a crossroads. Both those still employed and those displaced like me, unable to reenter the job market due to AI and automation, must confront a stark reality. Now is the time to act before we reach a "point of no return."

We are at a crossroads and now is the time to act before we reach a "point of no return." I recently spoke with a member of Congress about massive job displacement across all sectors due to AI and automation. The conclusion was disheartening: Due to bipartisan issues and the election year, the Artificial Intelligence Accountability Act of 2024 is unlikely to be implemented until next year. Even if Senate bill 1047 passes, it will take 180 days to be implemented. Republicans abstaining from the vote highlight the challenges ahead. This is one of the most critical issues of our time. Millions of jobs are at risk of displacement. Just like many of you, six months ago, I had a six-figure job. I never thought AI and ChatGPT could take over my skillset, but here we are. According to Elon Musk, "AI will not only take away your job, but also the meaning of life." With OpenAI's ChatGPT-4o, AI can replicate skills that took me over a decade to develop. Experts, including IMF Chief Kristalina Georgieva, predict that 40% of jobs globally and up to 60% in developed countries like the U.S., could be "impacted" by AI and automation. "Impacted" essentially means cancelled. In California, fast-food workers are being replaced by AI bots and machines that fry fries more consistently are being introduced due to the minimum wage rising to $20/hour. This trend will accelerate, making manual labor obsolete and leading to massive layoffs. In April alone, 65,000 jobs were cut due to AI, averaging 2,100 jobs eliminated each day. Families are struggling to pay their mortgage or rent, put their children through college or afford necessities. The dystopian scenario from “The Hunger Games” is becoming a reality, though it is not widely reported. Don’t be fooled; the data never lies. Market trends and reputable sources state the facts. An insider from the US Congress shares insights on the speculated timeline for the implementation of the White House AI Task Force.

I recently had a call with a member of Congress about the massive job displacement happening across all sectors in America due to AI and automation. The conclusion was disheartening: Due to bipartisan issues and the fact that this is an election year, the Artificial Intelligence Accountability Act of 2024 is unlikely to be implemented until next year. Even if Senate bill 1047 (EthicalAI) passes, it will take 180 days from enactment to be implemented. The Republicans have abstained from participating in the vote, so this gives you an idea of the kind of mess we'll be in if you vote for Donald Trump, having a dictator as president who is best friends with Elon Musk.

A Critical Issue of Our Time

This is one of the most critical issues of our time, as millions of jobs are at risk of displacement. I have experienced this firsthand as a data analyst in the tech sector. Just like many of you, 10 months ago, I had a comfortable 6-figure job. I never thought AI and ChatGPT could take over my skillset, but here we are.

According to Elon Musk's latest statement on May 24th, 2024, "AI will not only take away your job, but also the meaning of Life." With the release of OpenAI's ChatGPT-4o, AI can now completely replicate my skills. It can create bar charts from an Excel file in seconds and provide detailed data analysis—a skill I have developed over a decade.

The Reality of Job Displacement

If you believe you can outsmart AI, think again. Predictions from experts, including the IMF's Chief, indicate that 40% of jobs could be "impacted" by AI and automation (“Jobs may disappear according to this CNN article)—up to 60% in developed countries like the United States. "Impacted" means CANCELLED. In California, fast-food workers are already being replaced by AI-generated bots at Wendy's, kiosks and soon machines hat can fry fries more consistently are on the way due to the minimum wage rising to $20/hour. It is evident that machinery is about to take off like wildfire as franchise owners can no longer make a profit. Recent news highlighted the increase of the minimum wage to $30/hour, which could make all manual human labor obsolete due to not being cost-effective. Massive layoffs have occurred in this industry since April 1st, with hours being cut and restaurants closing or moving out-of-state.

The Stark Numbers

According to a Forbes news article, in April alone, 65,000 jobs were cut due to AI, averaging approximately 2,100 jobs being eliminated each day. Families are suffering, struggling to pay their mortgage or rent, put their children through college, or afford necessities such as food and healthcare. There might not be robots chasing after you yet, but The Hunger Games in real life has unfortunately started.

Don’t Be Fooled

Don’t be fooled, the data never lies. Take this from a data analyst: market trends and articles out there state the FACTS. The news on TV every night might paint another picture due to TV stations getting millions of dollars from politicians to control the narrative, which is a perfect example of corruption in America. Do your own research, leverage AI, be smart, and ACT.
